Starting 2019, Brighton First has launched its third domestic program – a gardening ministry, first with the Beaver County Senior Citizen Gardens in Brighton Township and this Fall at the New Brighton Children’s Garden. Please come out and grow with us!

Starting in October 2017, Brighton First started a second domestic program in Rochester, Beaver County, Pennsylvania – The Rochester Community Center. Organized in four separate condos, each 2700 square feet – the first one – The Community Theater – Segriff Stage – now has an occupancy permit  as of Oct 11, 2019 at 134 Brighton Avenue, Rochester. The second condo – Rochester Community Kitchen is scheduled for opening November 2020 at 132 Brighton Avenue, Rochester; the upper two floors of both buildings will also hold theater practice space and a modest podcast/recording studio as well as incubator space for developing non-profits at 134 Brighton Avenue – coming in early 2021; while the upper two floors of 132 Brighton Avenue will have meeting space for STEAM programming for youth and other areas for vulnerable populations, opening in late 2021.

In 2017, four members, Irina, Natsha, Yana and Masha, of Nadezhda Fund and Principal Galina from Vokhma School from Russia traveled to Beaver, Pennsylvania to speak to Beaver’s residents and educate our neighbors about the needs of individuals in the Kostroma Oblast. Plans were made for the 2019 Kostroma Oblast trip scheduled for November 14-24.

Starting in 2017, Brighton First built a medical clinic, Our Lady of Angels, outside of San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic. Staffing it every three months for two jam packed days of medical work, we also make stops at a Leprosy hospital in San Cristobal and a Baby Re-feeding Hospital near the Haiti border. Our team utilizes volunteer medical personnel who see about 100 patients every trip and provide exams, treatment, and medication for ongoing medical problems as well as acute illnesses free of charge to our patients. At that time that the clinic is open,  other volunteers work to provide educational camps for the students and have a community meal for all the local residents. Recently we have started a computer lab and a library for the school. Our project in Dominican Republic for 2020 includes building a chapel for the residents currently who can not make the trip into San Juan de la Maguana.
